The Low-Rent Program is a program with a one year lease. This program is developed to allow a future homebuyer the opportunity to prepare for homeownership.  We also offer a homeownership program.  Properties are located in Harrah and Shawnee Oklahoma. 

PAYMENTS AND APPLICATION

Payments

We accept personal checks, money orders, and cashier’s checks (no cash) and during business hours. Payments are due on or before the first of the month. Payment is delinquent if not received by the close of business on the 5th working day. Late charges in the amount of $15.00 will be added beginning the 6th working day. A $25.00 fee will be imposed for a returned personal check. If you have a personal check returned, you will no longer be able to make your rental payment by personal check.


After-hour payments can be placed in the mailbox/lockbox in front of the HAKTO. Payments left in the mailbox are to be in the form of a personal check, money order, or cashier’s check (no cash payments accepted).


Services

Requirements (All Programs):

WE ONLY ACCEPT COMPLETE APPLICATIONS. INCOMPLETE APPLICATIONS WILL BE RETURNED OR FILED INACTIVE.

You must attach all of the following documents with the application in order for the application to be processed:


  • Photo identification for all household members over the age of 18
  • CDIB and/or Tribal Enrollment Cards (for Native American Household Members)
  • Social Security Cards (all household members)
  • State Birth Certificates (all household members)
  • Marriage License/Divorce Decree/Custody Decree (if applicable
  • Declaration of 214 (all household members)
  • Award Letters for Income (social security, SSI, Disability, Unemployment Benefits and Workman’s comp, etc…) if applicable
  • Any other Documentation requested by the Housing Authority of the Kickapoo Tribe.


WARNING!
Any false or misleading information may result in a fine, imprisonment and/or rejection of your application.


Application Process (All Programs) :

  • Applicants will be screened for prior balances owed to any other Housing Authorities or prior landlords. (This applies to all household members over the age of 18).
  • Applicants will be served with preference as listed:  Kickapoo-10, Other tribes-5, Elderly 62/Disabled-5, Veterans-5, Near Elderly 50-3, Displaced-2, Essential-5.
  • Applicant MUST meet income requirements based on family size in order for the application to be processed.
  • Applicant and all household members over the age of 18 are subject to a criminal background check.
  • Deductions for eligible expenses such as child care, mileage, etc. will not be calculated until occupancy begins
  • Applicant or household members over the age of 62, disabled or handicapped with medical expenses will not be calculated until occupancy begins.
  • It is the applicant’s responsibility to:
  • Update the application annually (Failure to update may result in your application becoming inactive).
  • Notify the Housing Authority of any change in income, family composition and/or new contact information; such as mailing address and phone number.
  • Answer any and all correspondence from the Housing Authority.


When your application has been submitted with all the supporting documents you will be notified by mail when your application has been approved or denied. If your application is approved, your name will be placed on the WAITING LIST. When a unit becomes available, you will be contacted by phone or mail.

Housing Authority of the Kickapoo Tribe of Oklahoma invites construction and maintenance services, consulting and professional services, and goods and supply companies to do business with us. HASFN’s finance department is responsible for all the Housing Authority’s procurement activities, such as soliciting bids, initiates requests for proposals and qualifications, issues purchase orders, and establishes contracts.
